Leave to Remain

In a few short weeks the United Kingdom, insofar as it's united, will be leaving the European Union, insofar as it's a union. Whatever the outcome on the ground, at the shop we'll still be welcoming customers, and promoting literature, from every corner of our cornerless world.

In advance of the calamitous, auspicious day when we cut ourselves adrift and head out into the savage, welcoming ocean for blessed or rocky coasts as yet unknown, here are a few book suggestions to help you negotiate a path through the maelstrom, or perhaps to celebrate the sun-kissed dawn.

An Appeal on Behalf of Nawal El Saadawi

We are very saddened to learn from our friends at Saqi Books that Nawal El Saadawi, our Author of the Month for February, is currently critically ill following complications arising from an eye operation. Diana Fox, a family friend, has set up a campaign to raise money towards her medical costs. Read more about the campaign, including details of how to donate, on our blog.
