  • Kemberlee Kaye: "Let's talk about privilege for a moment, shall we?"
  • Mary Chastain: "Bye, bye Jussie Smollett. You thought this hoax would fly by the CPD? He did this because he was not happy with his salary."
  • Leslie Eastman: "It used to be that one could rely on their talents and determination for success in their industries.  Now it seems that their victim rankings are more important.  Hopefully, the Jussie Smollet hoax will help reverse that trend."
  • David Gerstman: "As the anti-Semitism problem in Britain's Labour Party gets worse and worse it's appalling that there are those who cover up the problem going on in the Democratic Party. I took The Washington Post's Jackson Diehl to task for a column earlier this week in which he blamed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, not anti-Semites like Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, for the Democrats' Israel problem."
  • Miriam Elman: "Three countries have landed on the moon in some 60 years of flight in space. Yesterday the Israeli space team made history in an attempt to become the 4th country to reach the moon! You can read more here about the Israeli scientists involved in the moon mission, how this mission got its start, and the consequences of Israel's latest scientific success for the country and the world."

Fwd: Law Enforcement Program Manager: Now Accepting Applications

#Panama-Post

► MY SUCCESS = NEW CHALLENGES + NEW CULTURES
Intellectual Challenges combined with Cross-Cultural Interests - careers.state.gov
  Law Enforcement Program Manager
Now Accepting Applications

The U.S. Department of State is currently accepting applications for an INL Law Enforcement Program Manager, located in Panama City, Panama.

The Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) is responsible for the development, supervision, coordination and implementation of international narcotics control assistance activities and international criminal justice issues for the Department of State. INL's program in Panama focuses on supporting the Panamanian government's institutional reforms and strengthening professional capacities within the police and criminal justice sector. The INL Section in U.S. Embassy Panama City manages programs funded through the International Narcotics Control and Law Enforcement (INCLE) account and destined for Panama.

INCLE-funded assistance complements the Panamanian government's counter-narcotic activities designed to deter, detect, and disrupt transnational organized crime groups in Panama and throughout the region. It also complements the Panamanian government's investment in promoting rule of law; providing for citizen security; and reforming state institutions to foster greater transparency, responsiveness, and respect for human rights. The goal of this program is to improve and institutionalize Panamanian interdiction capabilities through targeted, sustainable projects.

The Law Enforcement Program Manager will advise and assist INL and U.S. Embassy Panama City in their efforts to help Panama interdict narcotics and criminal trafficking groups across multiple INL Panama supported programs including maritime and land interdiction, customs and immigration reform, and corrections security enhancement and reform. Besides managing training, mentoring, technical assistance, and procurements to support Panamanian security forces and judicial authorities, the Law Enforcement Program Manager will also liaise with USG agency implementers in the other INL program areas as they relate to the professionalization, training, and operations of law enforcement personnel. The Law Enforcement Program Manager will play a key role in shaping future program design and engagement strategies with the Panamanian government.

Compare and Contrast: The Vatican's Gathering of Bishops in Rome with the Epstein Court on Justice for Child Sex Abuse Victims

MARCI A. HAMILTON

verdict post

Marci A. Hamliton—professor and resident senior fellow in the Program for Research on Religion at the University of Pennsylvania and founder, CEO, and Academic Director of CHILD USA—describes the similarities and differences between the Vatican's gathering of bishops to address clergy sex abuse scandals and the federal judge's ruling in the case of Jeffrey Epstein over sex trafficking scandals. Hamilton points out that decision in the Epstein case is a victory for child sex abuse victims, while the approach of the Catholic Church is already misguided.

US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit Opinions

CODA Development SRO v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.

Docket: 18-1028

Opinion Date: February 22, 2019

Judge: Sharon Prost

Areas of Law: Intellectual Property, Patents

CODA's CEO, Hrabal, invented self-inflating tire (SIT) technology. In 2008, GM representatives approached CODA, wanting to involve Goodyear in commercializing the technology. The parties executed a nondisclosure agreement, then met in 2009. Goodyear's representatives included Benedict. At Goodyear's request, CODA shared confidential information concerning the SIT. Goodyear representatives expressed skepticism about its viability. The parties agreed to continue discussions. Benedict requested to review an updated technical presentation, the latest testing methods, and performance results. At a second meeting, CODA allowed Goodyear to examine a functional prototype of the technology. Benedict requested that his team have time alone with the prototype, during which he photographed it without permission. Months then passed without any communication. In December 2009, a Goodyear employee on Benedict's team independently inquired about the status of CODA's SIT in preparation for an internal Goodyear meeting. Unbeknownst to CODA, Goodyear applied for a patent entitled "Self-Inflating Tire Assembly." The 586 patent issued in 2011, naming Benedict and Losey as the inventors. CODA later received an unsolicited email from the ex-Goodyear employee with whom it corresponded in December 2009, stating, "I am retired now .. and see ... that they have copied your SIT." The Federal Circuit vacated the dismissal of CODA's complaint, seeking correction of inventorship, 35 U.S.C. 256. The district court erred in considering outside evidence about an article, by Hrabal, concerning the technology and in concluding that the complaint was time-barred.CODA's claims allow the reasonable inference that Hrabal conceived the invention and that Benedict and Losey did not.
